Caring For Your PearlsUpdated 4 hours ago

At By Charlotte, we design with longevity in mind, but pearls are especially vulnerable to wear and care habits. Please note that pieces not cared for according to these guidelines are not covered under our warranty.

Wearing Your Pearls

Pearls should always be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. This simple ritual minimises contact with creams, oils, cosmetics, and hairspray, which can dull their surface over time. Avoid wearing your pearls in water, whether swimming, showering, or washing dishes, as moisture can weaken the silk thread and diminish their lustre.

Pearls are also sensitive to perspiration. For this reason, we recommend removing them during exercise or strenuous activity. As they are naturally soft, pearls should be worn and stored with care, never mixed with other jewellery that could scratch their surface. Instead, keep them in a soft pouch or lined jewellery box, away from dust, sunlight, and humidity.

Cleaning Your Pearls

After wearing, gently wipe your pearls with a soft cloth to remove any natural oils or residue. For a deeper clean, use a mild soap diluted in warm water, then dry them carefully with a cloth and lay them flat to air dry. Avoid harsh detergents, chemicals, or ultrasonic cleaners, as these can damage their delicate surface.
